Father Jack Schauble
Nov 21, 2018OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota. He previously was a resident at Mendota Lutheran Home.Jack was born May 13, 1934, in Barrington, to Fred and Neva (Duncan) Schauble. He graduated from Elmhurst College and attended seminary at both General Seminary (NYC) and Seabury Western, where he graduated with a Master’s of Divinity. He also attended Jane Addams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois, Chicago, graduating with a Master’s in Social Work.Father Schauble was a lifelong priest in the Diocese of Chicago. As a priest, Father Schauble served a number of parishes, including The Church of the Holy Comforter in Kenilworth; St. Paul, LaSalle; St. Anne, Woodstock; and St. Jude, Rochelle. He also served as an interim priest at St. Luke, Dixon; All Saints, Appleton, Wisconsin; Grace Church, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and Grace Church, Galena. He was a counselor, teacher and priest at Northwestern Military and Naval Academy in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. In addition to serving as a priest in the Anglo-Catholic tradition of the Episcopal Church, he also worked for LSSI as a counselor in Oregon.Upon his retirement from the active priesthood, Jack again returned to school and obtained an AA degree in horticulture from Illinois Valley Community College. He then went on to get his Master Gardener’s certificate and was active in the Master Gardeners of Lee County. Although he shared his talent for growing things with many, his home northwest of Compton on 17 wooded acres (including a log home for which he was the contractor), was a garden showplace. Jack also served as a trustee for Viola Township in Lee County.Jack raised and showed Weimaraners, and later with his wife, Sandra Jones-Schauble, raised and showed English springer spaniels, and later, Cavalier King Charles spaniels; many to their championships.Jack is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra Jones-Schauble; children, Katherine Schauble (Jeff Smith); Gregory Schauble (Amy), and Lynn Schaub...
